Academy Strength and Conditioning Coach, Hull City AFC
Sam is a professional Rugby League player for Newcastle Thunder. He graduated from the University of Hull in July 2014 with a First Class Honours BSc Degree in Sports Coaching and Performance. During his studies, Sam gained International Student Honours representing England in the Student World Cup Final in 2013. He also undertook a work placement at Hull FC as the first team Performance Analyst throughout the 2013 season where they reached the Challenge Cup Final.
Sam completed a Masters by Research (MRes) at the University of Hull while working as an Intern Sports Scientist and Strength and Conditioner at Hull City Tigers Academy. He has recently been appointed as a full-time Academy Strength and Conditioning Coach where his responsibilities include assisting, developing and implementing on and off-field sports science provision.
Sam will be delivering a seminar aimed at explaining how to ensure you stand out to land work placements and internships in elite sporting environments. He’ll also outline what postgraduate qualifications are necessary for a sport scientist and what job opportunities are available.
